Our Process: From Hive to You

At PureHive, we keep our process simple, natural, and honest—ensuring you experience beeswax in its purest form.

Harvesting with care

Step 1 - Bees Produce the Beeswax

Worker bees (usually 12-18 days old) secrete beeswax from special glands on the underside of their abdomens. The beeswax appears as small, thin flakes. Bees chew and mold these flakes. Each honey cell is sealed with a thin layer of softened beeswax (beeswax cappings) once the honey is ready.

Gentle Filtering

Step 2 - Harvesting the Honeycomb

Beekeepers remove frames filled with honeycomb from the hive. They first extract the honey, often by uncapping the beeswax layer that seals the honey cells using an uncapping roller. The capping's are saved and later melted.

Crafting Into Foam

Step 3 - Melting, Cleaning, and Cooling the Beeswax

The beeswax is melted down using warm water. The melted beeswax separates from large debris. The melted beeswax is then poured into containers and left to cool.

Packed With Integrity

Step 4 - Production of Pellets

Once collected, the beeswax is checked for any adulterations and then melted for 10-12 hours at a temperature between 120 and 140°C. This stage helps to destroy any microorganisms, spores, and contaminants. The beeswax then settles for 9-12 hours and is later poured into containers via filters. The cleared beeswax is then re-melted on the production line and the granulation process takes place.
